Numbered Days

Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Ps 90:12

There is so much newness in each day; there is new grace, new mercy, new opportunities, new chances, new decisions, new attitudes, new knowledge, new life.

I want to be wise with my days and make them count. I want to be more intentional about numbering my days and learning and growing to become the daughter God has created me to be. I can’t change anything in the past but I can decide what to do with today. I want each day to establish a little more of His Kingdom in my life and those I encounter.

Zim Pictures

Here are some pictures from Zimbabwe…enjoy!

Independence Day

Saturday was a public holiday in Zimbabwe; we celebrated Independence Day. I found it a little ironic that we were celebrating independence in a country torn by injustice, corruption and is faced daily with horrific events. In my head celebrating a nations independence is remembering freedom won through victories and being thankful for the ideal and possibility of a good life. I dream, pray and hope for restoration and that one day Zimbabwe will be able to celebrate the type of independence I have in my head and heart.

A God who Restores

The church we visited while in Zimbabwe is small church of about 20 white Zimbabweans. It is in a small farming town. Most of us have heard of the horrific events that are taking place in Zimbabwe.

On Saturday we spent the day with Tore . His farm was invaded and taken over 6 years ago. He moved into town and has been fighting and hoping for restoration ever since. We went to visit some friends of his on a neighboring farm. As we drove past his farm he continued to tell me more of his story and his eyes filled with tears as did mine.

As we were driving he struggled with some hard questions. Such as why are the crops so good this year? How can God bless people who stole and took his land? Yet at the same time his heart was full of thankfulness that his nation would have food this year. My heart broke for him and the nation. As I struggled through these hard questions, all I could walk away with is the knowledge that God is good; He desires good things for His Children and He is the God who restores people and nations. It is just always in His timing.

Home Sweet Home

I spent a long weekend in Chiredzi, Zimbabwe. I know many of you were praying for our trip, thank you! A group of 5 of us from London Road Church went there to encourage and uplift a partnering church. It was a great trip and I really enjoyed Zimbabwe. It is a beautiful country with precious people. I have been home for a few hours and have a load of laundry in the dryer, have taken a shower and am downloading pictures now. I love traveling, absolutely love it but there is something great about coming home and being able to totally unwind.  I’m sure you will hear and see more of my trip to Zim in the weeks to come.

Easter Fun

Today I got to celebrate Easter with the Child Haven family, the orphanage I have been serving at for the last several months. We had some friends over and had about 25 people (16 kids and 9 adults) there for lunch. I got to make lunch. It was my first experience making lamb but it went well and everyone seemed to like it. We had a fun afternoon celebrating our risen Lord and enjoying each others company. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

“It Is Finished”

It is finished, what powerful words from Jesus on the cross. He conquered sin and death and revealed that to us at the empty tomb. Indeed it is finished and all I can humbly say is thank you Lord. Thank you for finishing my sin and guilt and paying for them on the cross. Thank you for conquering sin and death so that I might live and be free. Thank you for loving me first. Thank you for desiring the best for me and for giving me abundant life filled with overflowing grace, joy, mercy, forgiveness, and love.

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:1-2

Happy Easter

Happy Easter Weekend!

Faith Leading

Faith never knows where it is being led, but it knows and loves the One who is leading it. Oswald Chambers

I love this picture. Not knowing where you are being led but being confident in faith and trusting the One leading.

God is Coming

Recently I was playing outside with the five little kids at the orphanage. A gust of wind kicked up and Angel, who is four, gasped her eyes widened and she looked at me in excitement and said God is coming, God is coming! I burst into laughter and said you are right God is like the wind we can’t see Him but we know He is there. So precious!

"You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation." Rev. 5:9
I'm a missionary in South Africa. I have been here for four years and plan on many more to come. God has captured my heart with this nation. Just like with anything there are some days overflowing with joy and other days filled with heartache. But I love it and wouldn’t trade living and working in South Africa for anything. I am living a dream; it is more than I could think or imagine.
