Winter Wonderland

sledding

Nothing like a little sledding to get you into the Christmas spirit.

Today was the perfect winter day. Mom had a snow day and was off of school. We got to sleep in, eat a late breakfast, sit by the fire and play cribbage. Then I curled up by the fire with a cup of tea and read a book. The afternoon was spent with great friends sledding, it was a blast but I think I’ll be sore tomorrow! Then we went inside to warm up, drink coffee, make delicious mexican for dinner and watch the snow fall.  It was truly a winter wonderland day.

Friday Favorites

One of my favorite things about being in the States this time of year is the holiday flavors of Coffee Mate creamer. I love Pumpkin Spice. Sadly this kim-and-i-002year it’s been more difficult to find. I was going over to Kim’s house this week for coffee and wanted to take some Pumpkin Spice to share since I know she loves it as well. I went to three grocery stores on the way to her house and was unsuccessful in finding it. So I went to Kim’s empty handed but had a good cup of coffee and wonderful fellowship. I did find Pumpkin Spice later that night and called Kim to tell her. So we decided to do coffee again the next day. Ah what great fun-coffee two days in a row with a wonderful friend.

Benefits

Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all His benefits- who forgives all your sins, and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things. Psalm 103: 2-5

Often I forget the benefits of being a child of the King. We have abundant benefits in Him. We have forgiveness, healing, redemption, love, compassion, contentment and so much more. All I can say is thank you Father!

Piece of Africa

I flew into JFK for a short layover. We taxied for a long time and went by the international departure gates. My heart leaped when I saw the tail of the SAA, South African Airways plane and I got all chocked up and teary eyed and then had to laugh at myself. My heart yearns to get home to South Africa. Soon, very soon (three more weeks) and I’ll be on my SAA flight.

World Wind Week

This week has been long and draining yet at the same time wonderful in many ways. I have traveled from Flagstaff to San Diego then from Phoenix to Philadelphia and then got back to Flagstaff last night. So have spent many hours in cars, airports and planes. I got to see many friends and family so it was all well worth it! I’m planning on chilling out Saturday and rejuvenating myself for the week ahead.

"You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation." Rev. 5:9
I'm a missionary in South Africa. I have been here for four years and plan on many more to come. God has captured my heart with this nation. Just like with anything there are some days overflowing with joy and other days filled with heartache. But I love it and wouldn’t trade living and working in South Africa for anything. I am living a dream; it is more than I could think or imagine.
