On a jet plane

This last weekend I made the trek from South Africa to Arizona. On the long flight I had time to think of random things. One of the things I did to pass time was count how many times I have done the flight from or to Johannesburg. So this is what I discovered.

This was my 14th flight from or to Johannesburg; I have spent roughly 235 hours on South African Airways planes. That is almost 10 days!

Although during the flight in seems ever ending, I’m so thankful that traveling 1000’s of miles is feasible and I am able to see loved ones and enjoy the goodness of American treats. :)

Friday Favorites

I got a forward from a friend this week and thought I would post random favorites on Fridays…so here is the first one thanks to Gabe.

Four Places I go to over and over

1. Spar (local grocery store in Harrismith)

2. The airport

4. The toilet

Four of my favorite places to eat

1. Roberto’s (soon and very soon I’ll be enjoying enchiladas :) )

2. Chili’s

3. Primi-piatti

4. My mom’s house

Four other places I would rather be right now

1. At the beach

2. Getting a massage

3. At Starbucks

4. In a jacuzzi

Four TV shows I watch (we are a season behind in SA but this is what’s on these days)

1. Survivor Fiji

2. Grey’s Anatomy, well we are waiting for season 5

3. Does ESPN count? How about football, basketball, NASCAR

4. CSI

So there you go…

Two-4-Tuesday

Here are two quotes that I heard or read this week that stuck out to me

We’ve been created to be God-centered, and we are hopelessly self-centered. Sin has left us addicted to ourselves. -Rebecca Pippert

Before trying to effect change in society, one must first change yourself. – Nelson Mandela

Good thoughts to ponder

What? Rebecca is Blogging

Ok, ok, ok so I have caved and started a blog…I know. Shame! But I decided I would join this world/generation and blog. I guess it is a good way to stay in touch and communicate so why not. We’ll see how it goes. No promises on how often or regular posts will be but enjoy!

"You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation." Rev. 5:9
I'm a missionary in South Africa. I have been here for four years and plan on many more to come. God has captured my heart with this nation. Just like with anything there are some days overflowing with joy and other days filled with heartache. But I love it and wouldn’t trade living and working in South Africa for anything. I am living a dream; it is more than I could think or imagine.
